I Am Fluid: Self-Portrait

The mother is now fluid. 

Her mind and body can shapeshift. 

She is full of energy and power.

Artist’s Insight

In the design of this image, which is a self-portrait, it was important to me to visually represent my identity as something that is fluid and organic, that has the ability to change, and that has sovereignty of the body. 

To accomplish this, I layered acrylic washes and glazes under a thin layer of charcoal, followed by erasing out circular marks giving a bit of an ethereal feel.
